EPIC Parenting Education
• EPIC is a 10-week parenting psycho-educational class that teaching basic parenting skills to parents with children of all ages.
• Clients can self-refer, be referred by DSS, or be court-ordered. This group is not appropriate for highly abusive situations.
• The EPIC philosophy of parenting education is based on the philosophy that there is a direct relationship between the confidence a parent feels and his or her performance as a parent.

Topics typically covered during the course of the group include:
• Parenting styles and decision making
• Children need families
• Single parenting
• Listening and responding to children
• Communicating with teachers
• Love as a powerful vitamin
• Character, conscience, and values
• Fostering self-esteem
• Encouraging emotional growth
• Coping with daily conflicts
• Crises that affect families
• Structure and limits
• Rewards and punishments
• Sexuality education begins in the home
• Sibling rivalry
• Guilt and stress of the working parent
• Building bridges between parent and child: substance abuse prevention
• Helping your child succeed in school
