Join together in mutual support with other professionals (inside or outside the organization) and give yourself permission to nurture yourself outside of work.
Try to mix up and vary your work tasks by "cross-training". Rearrange the sequence of your work tasks if possible. Dont skip breaks or lunch.
Find effective supervision (may be outside the organization) to increase your ability to work effectively and feel more confident.
Teach others what you do. Many find that this forces one to think through the rationale for every intervention.
Attend seminars and workshops to increase your knowledge. New ideas can revitalize your work.
Get proper exercise and nutrition.
Take positive actions to change the environment if possible.
Use and develop skills such as risk-taking, reaching out to others, talking with others in a situation like yours for guidance, feedback and strategies.
Set appropriate limits.
Recognize the sources of pain and stress.
Identify and prioritize your professional and personal needs.
Assess to what degree these needs are being met.
Ask yourself what stops you from meeting those needs (beliefs, guilt?).
Select your most pressing needs and determine practical ways of gradually meeting them.
Take yourself seriously or no one else will.
